Adsorption of zinc by waste industrial sludge

Industrial effluentswith their heavymetals like copper, zinc, cadmium, lead pollute the inland water sources.Attempts have been made in this paper to study the adsorption process for removal of zinc from a synthetic solution of zinc nitrate and sodiumnitrate.An industrial sludge collected fromTISCO Jamshedpur has been used to make the adsorption studies. Different parameters like initialmetal concentration, pH, particle size of the adsorbent, sorbent dose, rate of agitation, effect of ionic strength of the solute and presence of different anionic ligands have been studied.
