The present work was undertaken to asses the potential of Clerodendron phlomidis as a antiamnesic agent in mice. Elevated plus maze was employed to evaluate short termmemory inmice. Scopolamine and diazepam were used to induce amnesia in mice. 100 and 200mg/kg, p.o. of aqueous extract of C. phlomidis were administered for 6 successive day to both young and aged mice. C. phlomidis decreased transfer latencies indicating improvement in learning and memory and it also reversed amnesia induced by scopolamine, diazepamand natural ageing.Hence C. phlomodis can be employed as a memory restoration agent in patient suffering from amnesia.
