An ethnobotanical study of traditional medicinal plants used by local population of circle Ait Baha

An ethnobotanical survey was realized in the circle AitBaha (Province of ChtoukaAitBaha, Souss Massa Draa) with the aim to constitute a catalog ofmedicinal plants andcollect all thedata about therapeutic usage of plants in human therapy. Theethnobotanicalstudy was carried out over a period the two years (2013, 2014). The survey led with the local population had permittedto identify48 medicinal plants. This study also had allowed to notice that leaves constitute the most used parts andthatthe most frequent preparation modein the therapeutic treatment is the decoction.

The majority of medicinal species are mainly used against diseases of the digestive systems (35%), respiratory (22%) and metabolic disorders (11%). The results are a very valuable source of information for the study area and the scientific community. They could be a database for futureresearch in the fields of phytochemistry and pharmacology in order to search for new natural substances.
